STUDENT LEARNING ASSESSMENT RESULTS

(from 2018-2020)

Throughout 2018-2020, the Assessment Committee conducted a series of student learning assessment rounds for the BBA, MBA, and MSIT programs. As such, this is the first time that the University has formalized and conducted the student learning assessment of the degree programs. Throughout this period, the Assessment Committee revised the program learning outcomes (Program Learning Outcomes) and the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) at the course level. Also, curriculum maps, Program Learning Outcomes rubrics, and signature assignments were created for all programs during 2018-2020.

Overall, the student learning assessment processes for the programs have been as follows:

  • Development of a curriculum map for each program.
  • Improvement of Institutional Learning Outcomes (ILOs), Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), General Education Learning Outcomes (GELOs), and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
  • Development of Evaluation Rubrics for the Institutional Learning Outcomes, Program Learning Outcomes, and General Education Learning Outcomes.
  • Completion of Assessment Rounds in each program, conducted by Faculty
  • Development of signature assignments including improved format of the courses for distance education.

Overall, through the process of this assessment, it is the finding of the faculty that we are in the process of reaching the 70% program learning outcome goal for all programs at the mastery-level.

Several improvements that faculty have pointed out for reaching such goal are:

  1. Revised Program Learning Outcomes-rubrics used for assessment and evaluation,
  2. Development of a complete set of signature assignments for courses that map into the Program Learning Outcomes-practice and mastery-levels,
  3. Re-mapping of SLOs into Program Learning Outcomes, and
  4. Student learning outcome improvement by improving:
    • Curriculum activities that improve research and writing skills of students.
    • Currency of the course materials.
