Dear Students:

SSU is offering these student volunteer groups on a quarter-by-quarter basis:

1) Student Clubs:

This group will allow you to develop, lead, or participate in student-led clubs geared towards social, community, sports, professional, and leisure interests and activities. Student Club participants will obtain guidance and advice from our Student Support staff. We are looking for at least 2 volunteers from each campus. Upon successfully completing the quarter, the tutor will receive a “Certificate of Recognition”. Hours volunteering will depend on the availability of the volunteer.

2) Ambassador:

This group will allow you to help promote the University and assist with student success. We are looking for at least 2 volunteers from each campus. Upon successfully completing the quarter, the tutor will receive a “Certificate of Recognition”. Hours volunteering will depend on the availability of the volunteer.

3) Faculty-Student Mentorship:

This group will allow you to work closely with an instructor. Faculty mentors are:

*San Diego/Online: Yuki Mun, SSU Faculty

*Irvine: Peggy Bilbruck, SSU Faculty

*Las Vegas: Bill Doyle, SSU Campus Director

We are looking for 2 from each campus that would like to be paired up with a mentor. Upon successfully completing the quarter, the tutor will receive a “Certificate of Recognition”. Hours volunteering will depend on the availability of the volunteer.

4) Tutoring Group:

This group will allow you to help your fellow classmates in the subject areas that you know very well. We are looking for at least 2 volunteers from each campus that can be tutors to our graduate or undergraduate students. Upon successfully completing the quarter, the tutor will receive a “Certificate of Recognition”. Hours volunteering will depend on the availability of the volunteer.

5) Classroom Assistance Group

This group will allow a student volunteer to assist an SSU instructor in managing a class. Upon permission and direction of an instructor, an assistant will be involved in classroom management tasks such as taking attendance, organizing study groups, etc. Upon successfully completing the quarter, the classroom assistant will receive a “Certificate of Recognition”. Hours volunteering will depend on the availability of the volunteer.
